Charity event “AmCham supports Kontrapunkt”On December 6, 2007, AAG – Analysis and Advisory Group participated to the event organized by AmCham - “AmCham Supports Kontrapunkt”, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje. Established in December of 2001, Kontrapunkt supports young Macedonian artists in promoting “cultural decentralization, de-monopolization, democratization, distribution and diffusion”. The group also works to give a voice to regions and groups at the periphery of mainstream Macedonian life. Since 2002, Kontrapunkt has managed the “Tochka Cultural Center” which hosts public debates, as well as cultural and artistic events, particularly those focused on art’s various roles in society. AAG felt it was important to participate in AmCham’s support to young alternative artists to help raise awareness of important social issues and to communicate via internationally-recognized media about modern Macedonian life. The event featured original exhibitions by two of the outstanding artists Kontrapunkt supports, a cocktail buffet and open bar. The relaxed format of the event allowed attendees to learn more about the contemporary art scene in Macedonia. The two artists that exhibited that evening were Oliver Musovik, a conceptual artist who presented his exhibition of 10 prints entitled, “The Artist”, and Zaneta Vangeli, a new media artist who exhibited her digitally processed photographs dubbed, “Anamnesis”. |
